Oak Tree Arb is fully qualified and insured to offer all aspects of tree surgery and hedge work including;

Crown; definition – The complete foliage section of a tree not including the main trunk.  The crown starts from the lowest branch (not the ground) and continues right up to the top of the tree.

Dangerous/storm damaged trees - We are very experienced in dealing with difficult trees that have been affected by strong winds or whose branches have failed due to structural weakness, we can use several techniques to make sure the work is completed safely with minimal disruption to the area surrounding the tree.

Access solutions - clearing back overgrown trees and vegetation encroaching on a customers drive or pathways. We can also prune trees clear from Streetlights or signage.

Dismantling – The aerial breakdown of a tree into controlled sections where space may be sensitive or limited.

Felling – felling a tree from ground level using directional cutting techniques used in a controlled manner.  Sometimes a pull rope or winch may be used to assist the tree being felled.

Reductions – An overall size reduction of the crown dictated to by the size of the tree.  Reductions are sometimes used when excess weight is needed to be removed from branches to help prevent failure.  Also used when an increase in light is required past the tree though care needs to be taken depending on the tree species.

Crown thinning – This is where small branches are removed carefully to lighten the crown and decrease wind resistance.  It can also benefit the tree by preventing future rubbing branches and potential weak spots developing.  Results are dependant on tree species.

Crown lifting – The removal of lower branches from the tree to aid appearance and sometimes for better access beneath the tree i.e mowing grass or for increased light.

Crown Clean – This is the removal of any dead, dying or dangerous branches usually small in size including any rubbing/crossing branches that may weaken with age.  A good health check for any reasonable size trees especially if accessible by public.

Dead wooding – This is the removal of any deadwood from the crown of the tree that poses a risk of falling to damage property or people.  On large trees anything 50mm in diameter or above should look to be removed, on smaller trees anything 25mm in diameter or above.  Long pieces of deadwood should really be looked at to be removed.

Pollarding – This is the removal normally of all branches back down into the structure of the mainstem.  Care needs to be taken as certain species do not respond well to being pollarded.  You can see pollarding on various street trees around the city.

Hedge work – All types of hedges and bushes trimmed including height reduction work, re-shaping and maintainence cuts.  We have a vast selection of equipment to ensure great results with your hedge.
